I am currently reading “The Ride of a Lifetime”, a memoir written by media executive and businessman Bob Iger describing his elevation to fame and corporate achievements in his life as CEO of Disney. A book full of interesting stories and I would love to share one of them with you.

In 2006 Disney, with Iger as their new CEO since 2005, bought Pixar for 7.4 Billion dollars. What intrigued me most is how this deal started, because it started with a whiteboard.

Bob Iger describes how he first entered Steve Job’s (50% owner of Pixar at the time) office…

Biggest investment of the entrepreneurial partners to date

Toronto, 14th December 2018 — Gregory van der Wiel and business partner Funs Jacobs have made a major investment in North American company One Legacy, which represents various NBA players. One Legacy represents players from the Denver Nuggets, Dallas Mavericks, Milwaukee Bucks, Memphis Grizzlies, Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic. The entrepreneurial partners Van der Wiel and Jacobs founded branding agency Bare Knuckle earlier this year and are also both involved in investment fund Block Party. With this investment the duo aim to firmly root themselves in the North American sports industry.

It is now two years since I started working with my good friend and partner Gregory van der Wiel. Looking back it’s already been one hell of a ride and we are just getting started. Fucked up a lot, learned even more. You know what they say; if it feels like you have everything under control, you are not going fast enough! After that call he told me and right away we knew, I need to make the jump to. That same day I decided that if it was possible, I was going to move to Toronto. Fulfilling my…

People that truly want to give it their all, want to succeed no matter what the costs are. With Block Party we look for (and already found) these kinds of special entrepreneurs. There are a lot of examples in the music industry of people who really gave it everything they got.

Last time I talked about Jay-Z. This time I want to honour two other true hustlers: Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre.

Both separate stories, reached the top and…

Jay-Z has always been an inspiration for me. It started when I was a 13/14-year-old kid and discovered “The Black Album”, legendary. I remember that I was devastated when I found out that this was supposed to be his last album. Thank god, it was not!

Always in love with his music but Jay-Z developed himself as a person, in business, in life. He became a business mogul, an investor, an inspirational figure. Reached the top in all. I grew up as well and with that my interest in branding, business, people, creativity and more. …
